Coverage is by ZIP code. This page also explains why this site is fifteen pages rather than four thousand.

In one paragraph

Routing is by ZIP code to contractors covering that area. No town pages exist here: slab construction and hidden leaks are not counted by place anywhere, so a local page would amount to an assumption with a place name attached to it.

UnderSlab is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and work that opens a structural slab is normally permitted — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work and no leak detection, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

We route to independent contractors who cover a given ZIP code. Coverage is not uniform, and where nobody covers yours we will say so on the call rather than take your details and leave you waiting.

No page per town, and why

Slab leaks are a property of slab-on-grade foundations, so the variable that would justify a page per town is how much of the local housing sits on one. That variable exists and is published by the Census Bureau in its Survey of Construction — basement, slab, crawl space.

It is published for four Census regions, and it covers new construction. Four geographic pages is not a site, and new houses are not a repair market.

We could have written thousands of pages whose only local content was the name of the town. We would rather publish fifteen that are all substance and tell you why.

What we publish in place of them

The test that settles whether you have a leak at all, which is free and works the same in every town. What the signs distinguish. How a leak is located before a floor is opened. And the question to answer before anybody cuts anything.

If the meter moved with everything off, you have a leak.That is the finding worth leading with, because it saves an hour of diagnosis. We connect you with a contractor who covers your area, and your ZIP code is what decides who that is. You are never charged. It does not have to be a slab leak either — every kind of plumbing request is routed.
