How This Site Makes Money

Nobody is charged for being connected. UnderSlab is paid by the contractor who takes the call, which is precisely why the site opens by telling readers to run a free meter test of their own before they telephone anyone.
On the telephone
You give us the ZIP code and what you are seeing — the meter reading, the warm patch, the sound. We check it against the areas our partner contractors cover and connect you with one who covers yours. If nobody does, we say so on the call.
We do not take your details to pass on later, and we do not sell them.
Who pays us
The contractors, when we route them a call. You are never charged anything, whether or not any work goes ahead.
That creates an obvious incentive to get you on the phone, so it is worth saying what we do about it: the first thing every page here tells you is a test you can run yourself for nothing. If the meter does not move, you do not have a leak and you do not need us. If a toilet is passing water, that is a part you can buy and fit in an afternoon.
What this is not
We are not a contractor and not a leak detection company. We carry out no work and no detection, we do not set prices, and we do not supervise anybody. Contractors in our network are independent businesses required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands.
We are also not structural engineers and not insurers. Both come up on this subject and on both we tell you who to ask instead.

We connect you with a contractor who covers your area, and your ZIP code is what decides who that is. You are never charged.
