A slab leak is the kind of loss that gets talked about with an insurer, so the most useful thing this page can tell you is who we are not.

In one paragraph

There is nothing here to fill in and nowhere for details to go. What a call leaves behind is a ZIP code, what you have found, and the number it came from. No record of the property, the leak or any previous conversation is retained.

UnderSlab is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands, and work that opens a structural slab is normally permitted — ask to see the permit. We carry out no work and no leak detection, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

We do not speak to your insurer

We have no relationship with any insurance company. We do not report losses, we are not asked about them, and nothing you tell us on a call becomes part of a claim file or an underwriting record anywhere.

That cuts both ways and you should know the second half too: because we are not part of that process, we cannot tell you what your policy covers, and nothing on our insurance page is a statement about your policy. That is a question for the document itself.

What a call records

A ZIP code and a description of what you are seeing, so the call can reach somebody who covers your area. Your number arrives because you dialed, as it does on any telephone call, along with the time and the length.

We do not ask for your name and there is no form on this site to put one into. The ZIP code is a routing instruction; it is not an address.

Where it ends up

To the contractor who takes the call, so they arrive knowing what they are looking at — the meter reading, the warm spot, the sound. That is the point of the call and we do not filter it.

Nowhere else. We do not sell details, we do not build lists, and we do not pass anything to a foundation company, a restoration firm or anyone else who was not on your call.

Reading without calling

Every page here is a static file. No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking scripts, nothing that records which pages you read.

Having the record removed

Write to [email protected] with the number you called from and ask. We will remove it. The number is the only thing the record is stored against.

If the meter moved with everything off, you have a leak.That is the finding worth leading with, because it saves an hour of diagnosis. We connect you with a contractor who covers your area, and your ZIP code is what decides who that is. You are never charged. It does not have to be a slab leak either — every kind of plumbing request is routed.
